Ted Gould III is a bassist, educator, recording artist, and digital creator known for his groove-driven approach to music, bass education, and modern musicianship. As the creator of Ted Talks Bass, Ted has built a global audience through practical bass instruction, live performance content, and real-world musical insight rooted in decades of professional experience. Over the course of his career, Ted has performed, toured, and collaborated with artists including 90s pop icon Jody Watley, Jon B., Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Water Seed, Lyndsey Smith, and legendary funk drummer Zigaboo Modeliste of The Meters. He has also worked internationally as a musical director and performing artist throughout the United States and Southeast Asia. In 2019, Ted released his solo album St. Ann, featuring collaborations with Dr. Fink and Levi Seacer Jr., both alumni of Prince’s legendary musical circle and the New Power Generation era. The project blended deep pocket, modern soul, funk, and cinematic textures while highlighting Ted’s identity as both a working bassist and creative artist. Beyond the stage, Ted spent more than a decade in K–12 music education and instructional technology, helping students connect creativity, culture, and technology through modern music learning. He is also the creator of Bass Note Master and Groove School, platforms designed to help bass players develop fretboard fluency, groove, and musical confidence through practical, musician-focused training. Ted’s work sits at the intersection of professional musicianship, education, and digital innovation, with a teaching philosophy rooted in clarity, feel, and real-world application rather than unnecessary complexity.
