ShedSpace for iPhone, iPad and Android is a metronome, a drone, and a drummer, all running on one clock. Set a tempo and everything follows it. Start the drone under the click to work on intonation, or start the drummer and play along with a real kit at whatever tempo you need today.
A purchase on the App Store does not carry over to Google Play, or the other way round.
Three tools, one clock
Start any tool from any tab and the others fall in on the one.
Metronome
- • Tempo from 20 to 300 BPM. Drag a ruler, tap the number for a keypad, or use tap tempo.
- • 40 time signatures, from 1/2 through 12/16, with the beat length honored, so 7/16 clicks twice as fast as 7/8.
- • Six subdivisions drawn as real notation: quarter, eighths, triplets, shuffle, sixteenths, and sixteenth swing.
- • Tempo ramp: raise the tempo by a set amount every few bars.
- • Gap trainer: drops the click for whole bars so you have to keep time yourself, then brings it back.
Drone
- • A sustained tone or chord in any key, with seven timbres: clean, strings, warm, pad, bright, dark, and organ.
- • Chord qualities from a single note and a fifth through major, minor, diminished, augmented, sus2, sus4, sevenths, add9, and extended chords.
- • Changes: the drone can cycle through keys automatically, or play a chord progression on the shared clock. Built-in progressions such as a ii-V-I, and you can write your own.
- • Reference pitch from 415 to 444 Hz, with presets for common tunings and a fine stepper.
- • Octave up and down.

- • Grooves recorded for ShedSpace by a real drummer on a real kit, not samples or a drum machine.
- • Rock, funk, pop, and latin feels, with more on the way.
- • Each groove was recorded at several tempos, so the drums keep their feel across the whole range instead of being stretched from one recording.
- • The drummer follows the same tempo as the metronome and the drone, so you can play along with a click, a chord, and a drummer at once.

Pocket brings grooves recorded for ShedSpace by a real drummer on a real kit. Rock, funk, pop, and latin feels, with more on the way.
Each groove was recorded at several tempos, so the drums keep their feel across the whole range instead of being stretched from one recording. Move the tempo and the app switches to the nearest recording mid-bar, on the beat.
Filter by style, mark favorites, and switch grooves while playing: the new one comes in on the next bar line. The drummer follows the same tempo as the metronome and the drone, so you can play along with a click, a chord, and a drummer at once.

Background Audio
Runs in the background with lock-screen and Dynamic Island controls, so you can lock the phone and keep practicing.
Mixer & Routing
A mixer sets how loud each tool sits in the mix, and an output picker sends the sound to AirPlay or Bluetooth speakers and headphones from inside the app.

How much does it cost?
$9.99 a year, or $29.99 once for lifetime access. Both include everything, and new grooves arrive as they are recorded. The first seven days are free and need no card.
Can I cancel?
Yes. The yearly plan is managed through your Apple ID or Google Play and can be cancelled any time. The lifetime purchase never renews.
Does it work on iPad?
Yes, and on Apple silicon Macs.
Does it run in the background?
Yes.
